This season expect to notice some changes at Mt. Rose ski resort, which has invested $6 million in the off-season to add to its recreational offerings.

For the 2025-26 season, Mt. Rose will add a new Wildslide Tahoe Tubing Center and expand snowmaking systems. The resort is also welcoming the return of high school and NCAA races, and introducing educational “Snow Days” field trips with curriculum designed for K-12 students.
“With the investments that have been made this year, we’re excited to welcome new and returning guests back,” said Mike Pierce, Mt. Rose marketing and sales director. “We’re targeting a Nov. 8 resort opening – weather and conditions permitting – with the new Wildslide Tahoe Tubing Center, anticipated to open over the Thanksgiving holiday.”
Located off the Mt. Rose Highway in Nevada, approximately 10 miles from Incline Village in North Lake Tahoe and 25 miles from Reno, Mt. Rose has the area’s highest base elevation (8,260 feet). The resort’s 1,200 acres feature an ample variety of runs that serve every level of skier and snowboarder.
Wildslide Tahoe Tubing Center: Mt. Rose says it has the largest tubing operation on the west coast. It will feature up to 20 snow tubing lanes that are 750 feet in length and served by a dual conveyor lift.
The tubing center will also feature a new lodge and ample outdoor seating that will be accessible by both tubing guests and those visiting the resort to ski or snowboard. Specific to tubing guests, a new 400-space parking lot will provide convenient access to the tubing lanes, which is located three-quarters of a mile west of the Mt. Rose main lodge entrance.

Tubing operations are planned Fridays through Sundays as well as throughout all holiday periods. Tubing sessions will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will be sold in 2-hour sessions each day.
Kids ages 4-above are welcome, but all participants must be able to ride independently in their own tube. Walk-ins are welcome, but online advance reservations are encouraged. Group and corporate event booking opportunities are also available.
Snowmaking Enhancements: Mt. Rose invested in a connection to a third well that will augment the current system for max throughput, especially advantageous during early-season snowmaking windows. Another fixed snowmaking tower gun was also installed in the Kit Carson Bowl.
School and Race Programs: Mt. Rose is offering “Snow Days” field trips for K-12 students.
Built with purpose, each field trip experience is aligned with NGSS and Nevada Academic Content Standards to give teachers an easy, engaging way to reinforce classroom learning with hands-on, real-world application.
From lessons about ecosystems to energy, weather, physics and physical education, these programs include indoor and outdoor experiences, with every program designed to be active, engaging, and aligned with classroom curriculum.
The 2025-26 season will also welcome the return of Washoe County Nevada high school ski racing to the mountain with training and competitions starting in December. The racing season concludes with the championships taking place just after President’s Day weekend.
Mt. Rose continues to serve as the home training facility of the University of Nevada’s NCAA ski team. The resort will host an NCAA Invitational Race Series Jan. 31 through Feb. 3, featuring Men’s and Women’s GS and slalom events.
