A chance to own a piece of history is being made available by Sugar Bowl ski resort, which is selling gondola chairs that have been used by the resort for more than four decades.

Sugar Bowl is offering a limited release of our now decommissioned gondola cabins – an iconic part of the mountain experience since 1982. The four-person gondola cabins were built for durability and designed with classic alpine character.
“It’s a rare opportunity to take home a piece of Sugar Bowl’s history while contributing to its future,” Sugar Bowl wrote in a blog post, detailing the sale. “We love the idea that these cabins will continue their story in new and unexpected ways.”
Proceeds from each cabin sold will go directly back into the resort, supporting the continued renovation of the Village Lodge. This includes extending the aesthetic, remodeling Rathskeller throughout the lower level and introducing a new retail space for snacks and souvenirs, which the resort says will be ready for the 2026-27 ski season.

Cabins are currently available for direct purchase at $10,000 with limited availability. If any cabins remain following this offering, they will be released through an auction process, with final units sold to the highest bidders from our wait list.

California Gold Pass

A ski and ride pass unlike any other, the 2026-27 Ski California Gold Pass goes on sale May 1. Valued for the transferable, unrestricted access it provides to whomever has it in their possession, the Gold Pass is one of the most exclusive passes in the ski industry and provides access to 36 downhill and cross-country ski areas in California and Nevada.
Only a limited number of passes are available for sale annually, making it one of the most coveted passes for skiers, snowboarders, and organizations who purchase them for use as an employee or client perk.
“The Gold Pass is unmatched in terms of the access it provides all season long to the best skiing, snowboarding, and cross-country skiing at ski areas in California and Nevada,” said John Rice, Ski California president. “Fully transferable so that it can be shared with family, friends, employees or clients, the Gold Pass has no blackout dates, offers unlimited use at participating ski areas, and includes direct-to-lift access at most of the 36 ski areas. It truly is the ultimate ski pass.”
The 2026-27 Ski California Gold Pass will be available for $4,250 per pass while supplies last. Purchasers will have the option to pay in full, or with a non-refundable $1,150 deposit per pass if purchased by May 29, with the balance due in four months.
