There’s a new, beautiful place to hang out at Tahoe Donner Downhill ski resort when not out on the slopes.

This season Tahoe Donner opened its new ski lodge in late December. The space features a dining hall, bathrooms, cubbies and lunch service, creating a welcoming environment where young skiers can learn, play and recharge in one place.
The project was completed on time and on budget. Not a skier? No problem. The building is a great spot to enjoy food, drinks and great views, as well as a place to work remotely on weekdays with backup power and a power bar work area.
Tahoe Donner is a beginner, family-friendly resort that is small, yet so are the crowds, making it a good atmosphere for beginner skiers and snowboarders. Located in Truckee, about 10 minutes off Interstate 80, Tahoe Donner has five lifts and 17 trails. Its base elevation is 5,200 feet and its summit rises to 8,000 feet.
On March 2024, at a special open board meeting, the board unanimously approved proceeding with the lodge project, which concluded a monumental planning process that began 17 years ago. Details about the approval can be found in the approval Resolution 2024-2.
The project was designed to address many inadequacies in the current undersized lodge. Enhancements include:

- Additional bathrooms that are up to code
- Important ADA access that also meets today’s code requirements
- Sufficient indoor and outdoor dining space
- A raised ski lodge level to avoid climbing a hill to get to a chairlift
It’s a big year at Tahoe Donner due to the new lodge and also for another reason – the Tahoe Donner Cross Country ski center is celebrating its 40th anniversary. The resort is marking the milestone with special offerings all season.
Cross country skiers can enjoy $40 learn-to-ski or skate lesson packages and track conditions in real time with a new Nordic Pulse App integration, making it easier than ever to plan a day on the trails.
