Olympic slopestyle champs Sage Kotsenburg and Joss Christensen at Woodward Parks in July

May 31, 2014 By Jeffrey Weidel

Two Olympic slopestyle gold medal winners – Sage Kotsenburg and Joss Christensen – will lend their expertise this summer to campers at the Woodward Parks in Lake Tahoe and Colorado.

Woodward will welcome the first-ever Olympic gold medalists in men’s slopestyle to the Woodward Copper (Mountain) camp in Colorado on July 14-15 and Woodward Tahoe (Boreal Mountain) on July 16-17.Boreal Joss Christensen, Sage Kotsenburg

Campers will get the opportunity to hang out, train and grab photo ops with the two Olympians. Christensen made history February 13, 2014 when he won the first-ever gold medal for men’s Olympic slopestyle skiing in Sochi. Kotsenburg won the first-ever Olympic gold medal in men’s snowboard slopestyle.

The two Park City locals are members of the “I Ride Park City” All Stars team. They’ve been on cereal boxes, early morning talk shows, late-night television, landed in the pages of Rolling Stone and their next stop is camp at Woodward.

“We are stoked to host Sage and Joss to camp this summer,” said Pheobe Mills, Director of Woodward Tahoe and a snowboarding halfpipe and slopestyle judge at this year’s Olympics. “After their groundbreaking gold-medal performances at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, they are sure to be an inspiration for our campers and will no doubt exude their love and passion for snowboarding and freeskiing with everyone at camp.”

In addition to access to the Olympians, campers will get to take advantage of new features at both locations. Along with a ton of snow at Woodward Copper, after a winter season with more than 29 feet of snow, campers will get faster and easier laps during on-snow terrain park sessions thanks to the installation of a new surface lift.

Campers will also be greeted with a new BagJump Freestyle Airbag, which will make aerials possible for campers of all ages and skill levels. Woodward Tahoe is equally excited to offer a new 3-pocket combi skatepark bowl ranging from 3 feet to 8 feet deep that is perfect for beginners and pros alike.

Both locations also always feature Woodward’s exclusive Parkskis and Parkboards to help campers learn new tricks off-snow. There is still time to sign up for the summer camps. If you can’t make these dates, there are always pros dropping in.
