More terrain opens at Vail Resorts Lake Tahoe

December 4, 2018 By Jeffrey Weidel

The snow keeps piling up and as a result more terrain is opening at the three Vail Resorts in Lake Tahoe.

The popular Lake Tahoe ski resorts have all benefited from a recent series of storms that have really kick-started the 2018-19 season.

Kirkwood Mountain ski resort is off to a good start for the 2018-19 season with solid snow totals, resulting in seven lifts open, accessing 50 trails.

After receiving nearly 4 feet of fresh snow, Heavenly Mountain, Northstar California and Kirkwood Mountain have all expanded terrain for skiing and snowboarding ahead of the holiday season.

Heavenly Mountain: The famed South Lake Tahoe ski resort is operating 490 acres of ski-and-ride terrain, overlooking the beautiful waters of Lake Tahoe.

Including the scenic gondola, which transports skiers, riders and guests on foot from street level, the resort is operating seven lifts, accessing a diverse array of trails.

Heavenly runs from the top of the gondola include The Big Easy, California Trail, Aries, alongside 17 intermediate to advanced trails on the Nevada side of the resort.

Northstar California: Located in Truckee, the family-friendly resort is open top-to-bottom, spinning Comstock Express chairlift, which provides access to the Mt. Pluto summit and more than 23 trails in that area.

The resort is currently operating nine lifts and 36 trails from the summit all the way down to Village Run.

Terrain for beginners to experts is available including Easy Street, East Ridge and Grouse Alley trails. Man-made additions include three terrain parks with 20 features for multiple ability levels and two Kids Adventure Zones.

Kirkwood Mountain: The ski resort off Highway 88 near South Lake Tahoe is providing skiers and riders more than 800 acres of terrain, including Chair 10 accessing The Wall, a popular double black diamond trail known for its ridgeline.

Northstar California is currently operating nine lifts and 36 trails from the summit all the way down to Village Run.

Beginner terrain located lower on the mountain includes Timber Creek, an area comprised of green circle trails leading up to intermediate runs crafted for progressive learning.

In total, Kirkwood Mountain is operating seven lifts and 50 trails.
