Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows receive 10 inches of snow from latest storm

January 31, 2014 By Jeffrey Weidel

It was snowing lightly at Alpine Meadows ski resort earlier this morning, signs that the storm had not totally subsided in the Lake Tahoe region.

The much needed storm that came in Wednesday night dropped more than a foot of fresh snow at some Lake Tahoe ski resorts. It will make for a happy Super Bowl weekend in Tahoe for skiers and snowboarders.Squaw skier

On Tahoe’s north shore, both Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows received 10 inches of fresh snow by early afternoon, but received no more snow last night. s.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is forecasting that a smaller system could also move through the Sierra Nevada on Sunday, bringing more snow to the Tahoe region

Both Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows are currently open with 17 lifts across both resorts. In addition to skiing and snowboarding on the fresh snow, guests can also enjoy snowtubing, mini-snowmobiles, shopping and dining in The Village at Squaw Valley.

Squaw’s Wanderlust Yoga Studio also offers a full schedule of 19 yoga classes per week, and is open seven days a week.

Tahoe Super 2

Skiers and riders looking to take full advantage of the fresh snow can purchase the Tahoe Super 2, which will only be offered through 6 p.m. (PST) today (Jan. 31).

The limited-time-offer provides deep discounts on two days of skiing and riding at both Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows, including bringing lift ticket prices down to less than $60 a day for adults.Sugar Bowl skier, powder shot

When purchased three days in advance, the Super 2 is available for $119 for adults (less than $60 a day), $101 for young adults and seniors (less than $51 a day), and $67 for kids and those ages 76 and up (less than $34 a day). The Tahoe Super 2 is the best way to save on skiing and riding at Squaw and Alpine. Tickets must be used by Feb. 14

Skiers and riders can also purchase the Super 2 day-of at the Squaw Valley or Alpine Meadows’ ticket windows for $139 for adults, $119 for young adults and seniors, and $79 for kids and those ages 76 and up.
