Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows holding job fair

Are you looking for a winter job at a Lake Tahoe ski resort? There will be opportunities later this month at both Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows, a pair of neighboring ski resorts owned by the same company.

Each year, Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows ski resorts hire more than 1,800 part- and full-time seasonal employees for a variety of positions.

Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows announces two winter job fairs for individuals to apply for a variety positions at both resorts during the 2016-17 winter season. The two winter job fairs will take place at Squaw Valley on October 22 and November 5. Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows will offer increased incentive pay for kids’ group lesson instructors, complimentary instructor academy training to become certified and Lake Tahoe’s highest rate for certified Level 2 & 3 ski instructors.

Employee benefits for 2016-17 include housing assistance, generous family passes for legal dependents and free transportation to and from work. New this year employees will qualify for discounts on cell phone service, computers, as well as discounts with local partners. Applicants are encouraged to view open positions and apply online in advance, then participate in either job fair from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. held at the Village at Squaw Valley. Be prepared to interview for available positions.

Each year, Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows hires more than 1,800 part- and full-time seasonal employees for a variety of positions. The resort plans to increase permanent employment opportunities in the future with the completion of the Village at Squaw Valley. Once approved, the project will create over 500 new full-time, year-round jobs that will protect the local economy and offer more stable employment to local families.

“With our plans to open early following the longest season in a decade, we look forward to ramping up the 2016-17 season and welcoming new and returning employees to the mountain,” said Brittany Clelan, vice president of human resources at Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows. “Each employee becomes a valued member of the Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows family. We’re proud to be providing them with a wide variety of traditional and non-traditional benefits to show our appreciation.”

Open positions include kids ski school instructors, lift operators, ticket sellers, culinary staff, groomers with experience, rental technicians and snowmakers, with all positions offering competitive compensation.

Individuals interested in ski instruction are encouraged to apply, whether certified or not: Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows offers complimentary instructor academy training to become certified and $2 per hour on top of base pay for instructors who opt to teach kids’ group lessons. At $20 and $24 dollars per hour, respectively, the resort has increased the wage for its Level 2 & 3 certified instructors, now the highest in Lake Tahoe.

Along with a flexible scheduling system and a variety of indoor and outdoor positions, Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows provides free, unrestricted season passes to all part-time, full-time and holiday seasonal employees and their dependents, a 50-percent discount on food at the resort, discount on Teams and season long Ski School for dependents and 25-percent off retail items.

Employees are extended discounts for local yoga, golf and bike rentals, and deep lodging discounts at several resorts including The Village at Squaw Valley and Hotel Del Coronado.

Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows makes commuting to work easier for employees by providing free Tahoe Area Regional Transit (TART) passes and offering a free weekend shuttle bus from Reno to Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows with two convenient pick up locations in Northwest Reno.

The resort is also committed to helping seasonal employees find housing in the Reno/Tahoe area. Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows will master lease homes in the local area to provide full time staff access to housing in the area.

The Residential Rewards program offers season passes to local homeowners who are willing to rent their space to Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows employees. Homeowners are encouraged to contact Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows Human Resources at 530-452-7112 and speak to any representative for more information.
