Ski with Olympian Jonny Moseley this weekend at Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows

December 23, 2013 By Jeffrey Weidel

Former Olympic gold medal skier Jonny Moseley will be skiing throughout the Christmas holidays at both Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows ski resorts.

And the cool thing is the public is welcome to make a few turns with the California-born skier – for free. Ski & Ride with Jonny Moseley is free. However, a lift ticket is required to participate.Jonny Moseley at Squaw

Moseley, who is Squaw Valley’s Chief Mountain Host, will be skiing with guests from Dec. 28-30 at both resorts – Alpine Meadows in the morning and Squaw Valley in the afternoon.

Squaw Valley ski resort and Alpine Meadows ski resort joined forces in November 2011 under the same company,

Ski tours led by Jonny Moseley are from 10 a.m. to noon all three days at Alpine Meadows, and 2-4 p.m. all three days at Squaw Valley.

Where to meet Jonny Moseley

Squaw Valley tours will meet at the Gold Coast Demo Center. Tours at Alpine Meadows will meet at the bottom of Summit Express.

The daily tours typically include 20-25 people at the start, and end several hours later with about half that number.

Moseley’s career record, in addition to a gold medal in the Olympics, includes 17 World Cup wins and 15 U.S. Championship top-10s.

A former member of the U.S. Ski Team, Moseley has skied world-wide, but retains a great affinity for his home mountain.

“I have skied everywhere in the world, and it’s crazy that one of best mountains and the best conditions you can find anywhere are right here at Squaw,” Moseley said. “I truly love it here.”

Moseley started regularly spending family weekends at Squaw at a very young age and eventually entered the resort’s Mighty Mites program, where he blossomed.

“Growing up on Squaw Valley’s Ski Team, I came to know the mountain like the back of my hand,” Moseley said.

The complimentary ski tours began in the 2008-09 season, but with a different emphasis. It was designed more for expert skiers and snowboarders, who joined Moseley on some of the more challenging terrain at Squaw.Jonny Moseley skiing the fresh powder at Squaw Valley

Now the tours are made for practically any level skier or rider and include a chance to talk with Moseley afterward. This also means that non-skiers can also share some time with Moseley.
