Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe enhances “Ritz Kids” program

May 7, 2017 By Jeffrey Weidel

Looking for a vacation spot in Lake Tahoe that will challenge your children and keep them entertained? The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe will enhance the popular “Ritz Kids” program this summer.

Located mid-mountain at Northstar California Resort, The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe introduces an initiative for the Ritz Kids program that includes an Energy Challenge and Sustainability Challenge, featuring the Radio Flyer Tesla Model S for Kids.

The Ritz Kids program in Lake Tahoe aims to delight children by making memories that last well beyond stays at any of The Ritz-Carlton hotels worldwide.

Designed to entertain, educate and inspire young guests to appreciate the need for creative strategies for energy management, the activity is built around the innovative ways Tesla is creating automobiles, batteries and energy management systems.

Kicking off the summer season, the new program is one of many fun activities young guests will enjoy throughout the property as part of Ritz Kids.

“We pride ourselves on providing engaging and immersive experiences with our Ritz Kids program, making memories that children will always treasure,” said Joseph Mattioli, General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe. “Not only will these new activities be fun and memorable, but they will also teach children the importance of energy management and sustainability.”

Taking place indoors and outdoors throughout the property, both supervised energy management challenges are half day modules. The Energy Challenge kicks off with an introduction to a plasma ball, where kids will touch the ball and feel electricity first hand, followed by a viewing of the Radio Flyer Model S Tesla for Kids and a discussion on the car’s unique battery.

Led by specific cues, children will then go on a search for stations around the property, including the Living Room, Manzanita, Highlands Gondola and more. At each station, children will answer a question on topics such energy, electricity, sun and gasoline.

Next, children will explore locations around the property to learn about real-life energy examples, and play an interactive game about non-renewable vs. renewable energy. The Energy Challenge will conclude with prizes, and a chance to drive the Radio Flyer Tesla Model S for Kids, a battery powered ride on car that comes equipped with high-end features to recreate the ultimate Tesla experience.

The Sustainability Challenge begins with a discussion on sustainability, including visuals like a potted plant and mature compost to demonstrate the importance of recycling and a clean environment. Children will then venture on a quest to find the most sustainable things around the property guided by riddles from the resident “Mountain Ranger.”

Based on the riddles answered, children will be challenged to create and draw a sustainable building or community that incorporates sustainable water, energy, recycling, and food measures. Afterwards, another opportunity to drive the Radio Flyer Tesla Model S for Kids will be provided.

A late afternoon free S’Mores is one of the things kids can enjoy during a stay at the Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe.

The new energy and sustainability challenges featuring the Radio Flyer Tesla Model S for Kids are an example of Ritz Kids’ ongoing commitment to provide an array of environmentally focused experiences that foster interaction with the world in which we live as well as create unique #RCMemories.

The Ritz Kids program aims to delight children by making memories that last well beyond stays at any of The Ritz-Carlton hotels worldwide. The Ritz-Carlton has an exclusive partnership with Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ocean Futures Society and curates activities in the natural world to intrigue and thrill bright young minds.

Designed upon four key pillars including water, land, environmental responsibility and culture, the Ritz Kids program at The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe offers a variety of creative activities including adventure hikes, arts and crafts, scavenger hunts, lawn games and culinary creations for guests to enjoy this summer in Lake Tahoe.

Offered daily, The Ritz Kids program provides full and half day sessions with pricing starting at $100 per guest for children between ages 5 and 12. Please book reservations 24 hours in advance toll-free at 530-562-3000. To confirm hotel reservations at The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe, please contact a travel professional, visit www.ritzcarlton.com/LakeTahoe  or call reservations toll-free at 800-241-3333.
