Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe offering special events this summer

June 8, 2014 By Jeffrey Weidel

The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe continues to expand its offerings and provide new amenities for its hotel guests this summer.

New signature events include a Yoga Retreat Weekend, weekly outdoor BBQ cookouts for the whole family, oversized and glow-in-the-dark games to be enjoyed well into the evening in The Backyard.Ritz-Carlton pool-hotel-ski resort

The 170-room resort, nestled mid-mountain on Northstar California ski resort, is Lake Tahoe’s only AAA Five Diamond resort.

In addition to the popular lawn games offered daily in The Backyard, this summer guests will have access to poolside cabanas, the convenience of the new Backyard Bar & BBQ (opened December 2013), and the comforts offered by a new trellis on the terrace outside of Manzanita, the resort’s signature restaurant, designed to improve the outdoor dining experience.

“Summer is an incredible time of year to visit Lake Tahoe, and we look forward to welcoming guests back to enjoy all of the activities we have planned, as well as the many relaxation opportunities offered daily at the resort,” said Joseph Mattioli, general manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe.

The resort will host new special events throughout the summer and fall season. The list includes a Yoga Retreat Weekend June 13-15, activities in celebration of the Independence Day holiday, including a “screen on the green” outdoor movie showing, and a new cooking series with the chefs of The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe, including a special session with Mattioli – a former Ritz-Carlton Executive Chef himself.

In the fall, Labor Day festivities will return, along with popular culinary events tied to the annual Lake Tahoe Autumn Food & Wine Festival, and will conclude with the 2nd annual Harvest Fest at the property in mid-October.

Summer Winemaker Dinner Series: Dining guests interested in experiencing an exquisite culinary and wine pairing adventure in the mountains this summer are invited to attend the resort’s Summer Winemaker Series offered Thursday evenings June 19, July 24, July 31 and August 28 at Manzanita.

Featuring Northern California wineries and fresh local ingredients prepared by Chef Jeremy Grossman, these events include a five-course pairing dinner in the private dining room at 6:30 p.m. for $100 USD per person (price excludes tax and gratuity).

Themed Cooking Class Series: A six-week, themed cooking class series hosted by The Ritz-Carlton culinary team will be offered on Fridays this summer, starting July 11 and concluding August 15.

Participants will enjoy an interactive experience in the kitchens of The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe working alongside a Ritz-Carlton chef.

Weekly Events On Property: The Backyard Bar & BBQ will offer weekly BBQ cookouts on Friday evenings throughout the summer season, as well as happy hour specials from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday through Thursday that include half-priced flatbreads, buckets of beer, featured beverages and more.BBQ restaurant

Friday evening cookouts are $35 USD per adult and $20 USD per child (12 and under) and are all-inclusive (exclusive of alcohol). New summer BBQ menu items will include lighter fare, as well as seasonal cocktails.

Ritz Kids Program: Themed activities for children will be introduced and are based on four key pillars: water, land, environmental responsibility and culture. The program is offered daily, and is designed for kids ages 5 to 12, with reservations required at least 24 hours in advance.

Full and half day sessions are available. The full day session begins at 9 a.m., concludes at 4 p.m., includes lunch and costs $150 USD for one child. Three hour half day sessions are offered in the morning and afternoon, beginning at 9 a.m. or 1 p.m., and cost $100 USD for one child. A 50 percent discount is offered for each additional child in a family.

Additional activities: The resort’s slope-side location at Northstar California Resort affords guests easy access to miles of hiking trails and lift-accessed downhill mountain biking. For those who wish to experience all that the lake has to offer, the resort has joined with Tahoe Adventure Company to provide convenient access to activities including stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking and more. The resort’s concierge can also assist in the coordination of boat cruises and other lake adventures.
