Palisades Tahoe holding local race series

February 22, 2025 By Jeffrey Weidel

Late afternoon, early evening racing among area skiers and snowboarders is returning to Palisades Tahoe.

The local race series will be held every Wednesday from March 5 through April 9, with a new theme each week.

The Palisades Tahoe Town Race League Series will kick off Wednesday, March 5, welcoming skiers and snowboarders of all abilities to compete in a friendly alpine racing competition for six consecutive weeks – weather permitting.

The series will be held every Wednesday from March 5 through April 9, with a new theme each week (see below) and a prize for the best-dressed racer. There is also a weekly raffle available to all participants.

All six race events take place on Julia’s Gold Run, located off the Exhibition lift and run from approximately 3-6 pm. The race format includes two runs per racer. All other Palisades Tahoe skiing and riding lifts shut down at 4 pm. A valid lift ticket or season pass is required to compete in the race events.

“The Town Race League Series is a beloved and spirited event. We’re thrilled to offer it again in honor of our 75th anniversary,” said Amy Ohran, Chief Operating Officer at Palisades Tahoe.

The Palisades Tahoe Town Race League Series is an iconic community event that has been on hiatus for several years. In celebration of the resort’s 75th anniversary, Palisades Tahoe is reviving the beloved race series, offering locals a fun and competitive way to spend late afternoon and early evenings on skis or a snowboard.

The Town Race League Series is more than just a competition. it’s a chance for local skiers and riders to gather, challenge themselves, and enjoy the camaraderie of the community. It’s designed for people who are seasoned racers or just someone looking for a fun, competitive way to spend time on the slopes.

“We know that (early) spring evenings in the Sierra can be some of the most magical,” Ohran said. “Our team at Palisades Tahoe is thrilled to bring back an event that not only celebrates our resort’s history but also creates an opportunity for our community to come together.”
