And then there was one. That’s in one North American ski resort remains open in mid-June.

While most winter sports enthusiasts have long ago traded in their skis or snowboards for bikes and other summer-like pursuits, Timberline Lodge in Oregon is keeping the dream of a never-ending winter alive.
Father’s Day weekend marked the last of the ski season in California, Colorado, and Wyoming, with Mammoth Mountain, Arapahoe Basin, and Beartooth Basin wrapping up their on-snow season with one final day on Sunday, June 15.
Set high on the scenic slopes of Mt. Hood, Timberline Lodge can brag about offering the longest North American ski season in 2024-25. While the winter season generally begins in early to mid-November and ends in May, the Palmer Express high-speed quad at Timberline operates in the spring and summer only, allowing the ski area to operate oftentimes through the beginning of September.
Note that terrain is limited to expert and intermediate throughout the warmer months. There are no beginner runs available. Both the Palmer Express lift and Magic Mile lift operate daily from 7 am to 2 pm throughout the summer, with both private and public lanes available every day. Mile Park, Mile Public Park, and the Freestyle Training Center are open from 10 am to 2 pm.

MAMMOTH CLOSING: Anticipating a Memorial Day closing this season, Mammoth Mountain kept pushing back the date, eventually settling on June 15. Chair 23 at Mammoth was reportedly still accessing some good high-altitude terrain.
Located on California’s Eastern Sierra range, approximately 100 miles south of the Nevada state line and 50 minutes from the eastern gate of Yosemite, late in the season Mammoth was offering a trifecta – skiing, biking, and golfing, all in the same day.
PALISADES TAHOE: Palisades Tahoe was the last Lake Tahoe ski resort to close, shutting down its lifts on Memorial Day – Monday (May 26).
It’s practically a guarantee that Palisades Tahoe will be the final Tahoe ski resort to shut down each season. It’s been that way for many years. A pair of Tahoe ski resorts – Sugar Bowl and Mt. Rose – stayed open this season until April 27. However, the Palisades Tahoe 75th ski season lasted nearly a month longer than those other two resorts.
