Mount Rose offering $60 lift tickets throughout May

April 25, 2017 By Jeffrey Weidel

Although most Lake Tahoe ski resorts are now closed, that’s the not the case at Mount Rose, where the season will continue for more than a month.

The 761 inches recorded this season shatters the old Mount Rose mark of 600 inches in 1994-95.

Thanks to a record-setting season for snowfall (761 inches), Mount Rose ski resort will remain open for roughly five more weeks, closing for good on Memorial Day (May 29). Located on Mount Rose Highway in Nevada and 25 minutes from Reno, Mount Rose announced last week that it will be starting a weekend schedule. The resort will be open Thursday through Sunday and close the other three days until Memorial Day.

The 761 inches shatters the old Mount Rose mark of 600 inches in 1994-95. The ski resort has recorded 500 or more inches five times in its history. With more than 18 feet of snow still sitting on top of the trails. Mount Rose, will provide skiers and snowboarders access to all areas of the mountain as conditions permit through the end of the season, as well as spring deals on lift tickets. Mount Rose has a base elevation of 8,260 feet, the highest of any Lake Tahoe ski resorts.

“May is just around the corner, but the snow is still deep at Mount Rose, and the spring skiing has been phenomenal,” said Mike Pierce, director of marketing at Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe. “In celebration of the monster winter we’ve had – quite literally our biggest snow year on record – we’re offering incredible deals to get snow sports enthusiasts on the mountain.”

Starting Thursday, April 27, lift tickets are available for $60 for adults ages 16-over, and $30 for children ages 6-15. Skiers and riders can also take advantage of the following deals through the end of the season:

  • $99 Four Friends Pack: Lift tickets for up to four people. Tickets must be used on the same day.
  • $99 Thursday to Sunday Ticket: Valid for one person to ski or ride up to four consecutive days (Thursday to Sunday). Not available for purchase on Sundays.
  • $25 Locals Sundays: All residents within a one hour drive radius of Mount Rose are eligible, including Reno, Sparks, Carson City, Minden, Gardnerville, North Lake Tahoe, South Lake Tahoe and Truckee. Local ID must be presented. Valid Sundays from April 30 through May 28.
  • $29 Ladies Day Thursdays: Mount Rose Ski Tahoe will continue offering this weekly special through the end of the season.

Starting Thursday, April 27, Mount Rose lift tickets are available for $60 for adults ages 16-over, and $30 for children ages 6-15.

For those interested in skiing or riding Mount Rose for the rest of this season and all of next, the Spring Plus Premier Pass is valid seven days per week with no blackouts this season or next. This pass provides the flexibility of being able to ski any day of the season. The Spring Plus Premier Pass is available for $549 for adults ages 24-over, $449 for young adults ages 16-23, and $249 for children ages 6-15. The Spring Plus Midweek Pass is valid Monday through Friday (excluding Dec. 25-29, Jan. 15, Feb. 19), and is priced at $349 for any age.

After April 23, planned lift operations include access to the Northwest Magnum 6, Blazing Zephyr 6 (Slide Bowl side), Wizard and Chuter. Ski lessons at Winters Creek Lodge will complete operations for the season on April 23.

However, all other services will remain open through May 29. Lifts are scheduled to operate Thursday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with an 8:30 a.m. start scheduled for the Blazing Zephyr 6.

The resort will also host live music on Saturdays on the snow at the main lodge, featuring artists including Mescalito, Achilles Wheel and Swamp Zen. On April 29, Mount Rose will host a Sunset Wine & Ski from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at the top of the Lakeview lift.

Other upcoming events include the SKI-O de Mayo on May 5, featuring frozen drinks in the Timbers Bar, and the resort’s annual season pass renewal party May 6 with live music and a raffle open to all who have purchased their renewal season pass for 2017-18 that includes six grand prize trips to Cabo San Lucas featuring five days, four nights of lodging and round trip airfare from Reno for two. Must be present to win.
