November 22, 2014 By Jeffrey Weidel

The creator of Fearing’s Restaurant and its “Elevated American Cuisine – Bold Flavors, No Borders,” chef/partner Dean Fearing has developed one of the hottest dining concepts in the country.

Fearing, the James Beard award-winning chef and partner at Fearing’s Restaurant in The Ritz-Carlton, Dallas, will bring his unique creative cooking skills to a pop-up restaurant at The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe this winter.

Celebrity Chef Dean Fearing will create a unique dining experience Jan. 15, 2015 at The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe.

The Ritz-Carlton is 170-room resort, nestled mid-mountain at Northstar California ski resort.

The nationally-acclaimed celebrity chef will prepare a five-course, prix fixe menu for up to 150 dining guests at Manzanita, the resort’s signature restaurant on Thursday, January 15, 2015, to kick-off the Martin Luther King Holiday Weekend. The special one-night-only dinner will feature Fearing’s signature southwestern cuisine, with reservations available from 5:30-9:30 p.m. that evening.

“We’re excited to welcome Chef Fearing to The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe this winter, and to give our guests and the local community the opportunity to enjoy the incredible dishes he is widely recognized for,” said Stanley Miller, executive chef at The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe. “It’s also fun for our culinary team to work alongside a chef with such a phenomenal depth of experience and long-standing tradition in the creation of southwestern cuisine. We look forward to welcoming him to North Lake Tahoe!”

While the exact menu is still to be determined by Chef Fearing, possible dishes may include some of those featured in his newest cookbook, “The Texas Food Bible.”

Dinner reservations for this special guest chef dinner featuring Dean Fearing can be made by calling the reservationist at Manzanita at 530 562-3121. The cost is $110 per person or $150 per person with wine pairings.

Fearing has developed one of the hottest dining concepts in the country. Named “Restaurant of the Year” by Esquire Magazine and No. 1 in Hotel Dining in the U.S. by the prestigious Zagat Survey, Fearing’s has received countless accolades from The New York Times, Food and Wine, Garden & Gun, Texas Monthly, and Newsweek, among others.

Chef Fearing has been recognized as a “Pioneer of American Cuisine” by The Culinary Institute of America and presented with the Silver Spoon Award for sterling performance by Food Arts. His namesake restaurant has created an ongoing buzz with its seven distinct dining venues and acclaimed farm-to-table seasonal menu.

The exuberant, ever-friendly Chef Fearing was winner of the James Beard Foundation Restaurant Award for “Best Chef in the Southwest,” and diners from across the country flock to Dallas to experience his signature dishes.

“I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to visit North Lake Tahoe and bring a little taste of southwestern cuisine with me to the mountains,” Chef Fearing said. “It will be fun to introduce those staying at the resort, as well as local foodies to some of my favorite dishes.”
