Will big snowstorm hit Tahoe this week?

January 31, 2024 By Jeffrey Weidel

Will that much-needed big storm hit Tahoe ski resorts this week? Hopefully so. After several potential big storms this season elicited lackluster snow totals, this week’s weather report looks extremely promising in adding to under-average snow totals for the 2023-34 ski season thus far. The Tahoe Basin has been experiencing freakishly dry and warm weather. […]

Although the rain was heavy at times Saturday in the Sacramento region and its surrounding foothills, the snow totals were modest by Sunday morning for Tahoe ski resorts. While Boreal Mountain was reporting 10 inches at its summit, Heavenly ski resort in South Lake Tahoe was reporting no new snow in the previous 24-hour period. […]

Christmas skiing at Tahoe ski resorts

December 23, 2023 By Jeffrey Weidel

Don’t expect Santa to be dropping off any white fluffy gifts this Christmas Eve in Lake Tahoe. The Christmas weather forecast and current conditions are not what skiers and snowboarders were hoping for this December when they envisioned a white Christmas. While it will be white at Tahoe ski resorts, the snow remains sparse. Unlike […]

A Bear on the slopes at Heavenly ski resort? Yes, it really happened

December 13, 2023 By Jeffrey Weidel

Apparently, a youthful bear lost its way Monday at Heavenly ski resort. And probably out of fear, raced across a busy ski run in front of several astonished skiers. Most people have heard or used this punch line that elicits a rhetorical yes response: Does a bear shit in the woods? But is a bear […]

October 18, 2023 By Jeffrey Weidel

Shaquille O’Neal is coming to Palisades Tahoe this winter. Most likely he won’t be bringing a basketball, but the lingering question is – will the man simply known as Shaq be bringing a snowboard? It’s not currently known if the Hall of Fame basketball icon will be hitting the slopes. But the invitation is there […]
