DOG DAY AFTERNOON AT PALISADES TAHOE
On International Dog Day (Aug. 26), Palisades Tahoe introduced the newest member of its Avalanche Rescue Dog team – Binny (short for Bintag). Binny is named after a famous Indonesian surf break and his handler –Johnathan.
Binny is beginning his training journey this season, which will focus heavily on socialization and exposure the dog to new experiences, such as chairlifts, moving equipment and the mountain environment. He is expected to achieve full mission-ready certification in approximately two years and become a fully certified Avalanche Rescue Dog.
Guests may spot Binny and Johnathan on the mountain during training. Binny is adorable and approachable in appearance. However, it’s important to remember that he is working, so guests need to give the dog and Johnathan plenty of space, especially around skis and snowboards. Always ask before approaching or interacting with Binny.
