Lake Tahoe snow report: Plenty of snow for holiday weekend

There’s at least one thing that skiers and snowboarders heading to Lake Tahoe ski resorts this weekend can be assured of – snow! And lots of it. For proof, check out the Lake Tahoe snow report below.

Like all Lake Tahoe ski resorts, Mt. Rose has plenty of snow heading into Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday. Mt. Rose has received 13 inches of snow in the past 24 hours.

North Lake Tahoe ski resorts are reporting more than 1 foot of snow in the last 24 hours, while a new storm system is headed toward the region late tonight into Saturday morning, followed by another possible system moving in Sunday.

There will be no shortage of skiers and riders for Martin Luther King, Jr. Weekend. The Lake Tahoe region has enjoyed numerous storms this season and all the resorts are reporting 100 percent open terrain, weather conditions permitting.

So far this season the region has received about 19 feet of total snowfall at the upper elevations, sitting at 142 percent above normal, according to the Nevada Natural Resources Conservation Service.

  • Boreal Mountain Resort: 16”
  • Diamond Peak: 12”
  • Donner Ski Ranch: 12”
  • Granlibakken: 11”
  • Homewood Mountain Resort: 14” at the summit
  • Mt. Rose: 13” at the summit
  • Northstar California: 18”
  • Squaw Valley: 11”
  • Soda Springs: 11”
  • Sugar Bowl / Royal Gorge: 13” at the summit
  • Tahoe Donner: 12”
  • Tahoe XC: N/A

    Heavenly Mountain resort in South Lake Tahoe is reporting 1 foot of new snow and has 201 inches of snow this season.

At South Lake Tahoe, Heavenly Mountain resort has received 1 foot of snow in the past 24 hours, 19 inches in the past week, and has a season total of 201 inches.

Another Vail Resort – Kirkwood – is reporting 15 inches over the past day, 22 inches during the last week, and 243 inches in season totals. Northstar has 246 inches this season.

Nordic skiers can enjoy the Lake Tahoe region with snowy terrain at Tahoe XC, Tahoe City Winter Sports Park, Resort at Squaw Creek and many other venues. Sledding hills: Children and kids at heart have access to sledding hills at North Tahoe Regional Park, Soda Springs Snow Park and can enjoy tubing opportunities at many ski resorts.
