Heavenly summer activities move to weekends only

September 4, 2025 By Jeffrey Weidel

With kids going back to school as September arrives, the summer season has unofficially ended in the Lake Tahoe region.

The Ridge Rider Mountain Coaster is one of the most popular summer and fall activities at Heavenly.

However, that doesn’t mean activities at ski resorts like Heavenly have concluded. After extending hours over the Labor Day holiday, Heavenly is transitioning back to weekends only (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) until summer operations close for the season.

Heavenly Adventure Pass, or Epic Discovery Pass, is a day pass for Heavenly that allows access to various summer and winter activities, including the scenic gondola, climbing walls, zip lines, rope courses, and the mountain coaster.

It provides a way for visitors to experience the mountain’s non-skiing attractions and includes options for different age groups, like the Little Explorer Pass for children.

Mountain Cruiser: This gravity-powered alpine coaster is a cool, scenic coaster ride that goes through forest and natural rock formations. The coaster sleds fit up to two riders, so families can enjoy this activity with another family member.

Note that Heavenly does have Mountain Cruiser restrictions. To drive or ride solo, individuals must be between 54 inches and 84 inches tall.  Drivers carrying a passenger must also be at least 16  Closed-toed athletic shoes are required for all activities.

ZIP LINES: Four parallel zip lines accessed using Big Easy Lift. This experience is 1,000 feet long reaching speeds of around 30-40 mph.

TUBING: Participants must be at least 42 inches tall for the main tubing course. Closed-toed athletic shoes are required.

SCENIC GONDOLA RIDES: This is a 2.4-mile journey with panoramic views of Lake Tahoe, including a stop at the Heavenly Observation Deck for photos, snacks, and drinks.

A sightseeing & lunch package combines scenic views with a mountain-top lunch that includes a $30 food voucher for Tamarack Ledge.
