Time to consider next year’s season pass at Tahoe ski resorts

March 27, 2025 By Jeffrey Weidel

As the season heads to the finish line in Lake Tahoe, ski resorts are already looking ahead, offering deals on season passes for 2025-26.

Now is a good time to consider purchasing next year’s season pass at a Tahoe ski resort.

Many ski resorts are offering low prices initially (costs will rise later in the year) to lure in next season’s passholders. And a second ploy is reeling in skiers and snowboarders who might want to switch their season pass plan, and can ski that particular resort for free the remainder of this season.

Here’s a look at what many Tahoe ski resorts are offering with their 2025-26 season pass plan.

VAIL RESORTS (Heavenly, Kirkwood, Northstar): The Epic Passes are now on sale at what Vail Resors says will be their lowest price of the year.

For a limited time, passes include 10 Buddy Tickets that offer friends and family up to 45% off lift ticket prices.

Epic Pass: Offers unlimited, unrestricted access to ski and ride at all three Tahoe resorts – Heavenly, Northstar, Kirkwood – and 39 additional resorts in the U.S. and worldwide. Cost is $1,051.

Tahoe Local Pass: Provides unlimited access to the three Tahoe resorts (excluding peak dates), plus 5 days at each of Vail’s Colorado resorts and Park City Mountain (Utah). Cost is $665.

If only interested in skiing or riding at the three Tahoe resorts, the cost is reduced to $567 with some restrictions.

Tahoe ski resorts have separate season pass deals for kids.

Epic Day Pass: If you’re planning to ski/ride for just a few days, you can ski or ride Tahoe resorts from $76 per day.

An Epic 1-Day Pass: Good at Heavenly, Northstar or Kirkwood – the cost starts at $91.

Passholders also get the added benefit of Epic Mountain Rewards, which includes 20% off on-mountain food and beverage, lodging, group ski and ride lessons, equipment rentals and more.

MT ROSE: The Nevada resort near Incline Village is scheduled to launch its renewal campaign Thursday (March 27).

DoubleDown Season Passes: This adult plan includes the rest of this season, plus the entire 2025-26 season. Cost is $1,095 for unrestricted pass and $895 with holiday restrictions.Other Mt. Rose pass plans include:

Premiere: The unrestricted pass for adults (16-over) costs $975 and children (6-15) pay $435.

This year, Tahoe ski season will go into late April with the latest closing date of Memorial Day at Palisades Tahoe.

Classic: This pass is void on holidays. Cost is $795 for adults and $365 for children.

Off Peak: This pass is void on weekends (January, February) and holidays. It costs $575 for adults and $265 for children.

Select: The cost is $375 for one midweek day and one non-holiday week.

For more information on Mt. Rose, call 800 754-7673.

SUGAR BOWL: The resort, off Interstate 80 at Donner Summit, has multiple season-pass plans.

Spring Pass: The cost is $399 for the remainder of this season with no blackout dates. Sugar Bowl closes April 27.

Legend Pass: The new pass costs a whopping $4,200 with limited inventory.

Unrestricted Pass: Starting at $799, the pass includes unlimited skiing and riding all week, no blackouts, eight friends and family 50% off tickets, 10% off food, beverages, and retail, and 50% off lift tickets at Mountain Collective resorts.

Slightly Restricted Pass: With a starting price of $629, the pass includes seven-day access with some blackout dates, 50% off six friends and family tickets, 10% off food, beverages, and retail, and 50% off lift tickets at Mountain Collective resorts.

Midweek Pass: Cost is $469 with Monday through Friday access with holiday blackout dates. Includes four friends and family 50% off tickets and 10% off food, beverages, and retail.

Local Student Pass: The $199 has unrestricted access for designated Placer and Nevada County School District students.

Although this season snow totals will likely be below average, Tahoe ski resorts typically get an abundance of snow.

PALISADES TAHOE: For the 2025-26 season, the Ikon Pass offers access to Palisades Tahoe, costing $1,329 for adults (renewals $1,229) and the Ikon Base Pass at $909.
