October 11, 2015 By Jeffrey Weidel

Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows announced this week it will host two winter job fairs this fall. The resorts will also increase rates of pay, and will introduce new benefits for seasonal employees at the ski resort this winter.

Each year, Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows hires more than 1,800 part- and full-time seasonal employees for a variety of positions.

Applicants are encouraged to view open positions and apply online in advance, then participate in either the October 24 or http://www.squawalpine.com November 7 job fair prepared to interview for available positions.

Each year, Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows hires more than 1,800 part- and full-time seasonal employees for a variety of positions. The resort plans to increase permanent employment opportunities in the future with the completion of the Village at Squaw Valley. Once approved, the project will create over 570 new full-time, year-round jobs that will protect the local economy and offer local families job stability, as well as more than 845 construction-related jobs.

Open positions include kids ski school instructors, lift operators, ticket sellers, culinary staff, groomers with experience, rental technicians, and snowmakers, with all positions offering competitive compensation. The resort has increased the starting wage for its entry-level kids ski school instructors, with wages now starting at $12 per hour, plus incentives.

This increase means Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows will offer the highest pay rates for that position in Lake Tahoe. The resort is also offering complimentary fast track Ski Instructor certifications, which upon completion, increases an employee’s wage further – to $14 per hour.

Along with a flexible scheduling system and a variety of indoor and outdoor positions, Squaw Valley Alpine Meadow provides free, unrestricted season passes to all part-time, full-time and holiday seasonal employees and their dependents, a 50-percent discount on food at the resort, and 25-percent off retail items. Employees are also extended discounts for local yoga, golf and bike rentals, and deep lodging discounts at several resorts including The Village at Squaw Valley and Hotel Del Coronado.

Open positions at Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows include kids ski school instructors, lift operators, ticket sellers, culinary staff, groomers with experience, rental technicians, and snowmakers.

Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows is making commuting to work easier for employees this winter by providing free bus passes to those who use the Tahoe Area Regional Transit (TART) services within the North Lake Tahoe community. This year, the resort will also offer a free weekend shuttle bus from Reno to Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows with two convenient pick up locations in Northwest Reno.

The resort is also committed to helping seasonal employees find housing in the Reno/Tahoe area. Local homeowners who have space for employees can earn season passes by extending their space to Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows employees. Homeowners are encouraged to contact Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows Human Resources at 530-452-7112 and speak to any representative for more information.

Prospective employees are encouraged to apply online and to attend one of the two jobs fairs to meet hiring managers and interview for open positions. The job fairs will be held at Olympic House at 1901 Chamonix Place in Olympic Valley on October 24 and November 7, 2015.
