Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe hosting wine, culinary event

The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe welcomes culinary and wine enthusiasts to its property Sept. 7-9 to celebrate the 33rd annual Lake Tahoe Autumn Food & Wine Festival.

The resort is hosting three days of special events, highlighting its outstanding food and beverage program, including Art of Mixology, The Backyard Brick Oven Experience, Tahoe Long Table Harvest Dinner, and Sunday Champagne Brunch.

The Manzanita Restaurant is an inviting location to dine at the Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe.

The Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe is a gorgeous location, residing mid-mountain at Northstar California ski resort in North Lake Tahoe. It is the only AAA Five Diamond resort in the Lake Tahoe region.

“The Autumn Food & Wine Festival is a beloved event in the community. I feel very fortunate to lead our culinary team in representing The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe,” said Mark Jeffers, executive chef of The Ritz-Carlton. “We have planned some truly memorable festivities throughout the weekend and look forward to welcoming our guests near and far.”

Below is a list of the special events.

The Backyard Brick Oven Experience, Friday, Sept. 7, 5-6 p.m.; $15 per child pizza (ages 12 and under)

The resort’s culinarians will teach children the art of building their own gourmet pizzas in this interactive experience. The young chefs will work with the culinary team to stretch dough, choose toppings and fire their creations in the backyard brick oven.

Art of Mixology, Saturday, Sept. 8, 3:45-5 p.m.; $60 per person

This entertaining, educational experience will feature freshly cut herbs and classic ingredients (such as bitters and infused liquors) to create three unique cocktails paired with appetizers. Guests will enjoy this workshop al fresco at The Backyard Bar& BBQ. Advance purchase of tickets is required.

Walk-ins will be accepted on a space-available basis. Price inclusive of tax, minimum age applies for participation.

September is typically a beautiful time to visit the Ritz-Cartlon, Lake Tahoe, located mid-mountain at Northstar California ski resort.

Blazing Pans Mountain Chef Cook-Off, Saturday, 4:45-6 p.m., Complimentary

Guests of Lake Tahoe Autumn Food & Wine Festival are encouraged to spectate at one of the most anticipated events of the weekend. Chef Tiffany Swan of Manzanita Restaurant will compete against William Burns of Moody’s Bistro Bar & Beats.

The two local chefs will prepare two courses of restaurant-quality dishes within 45 minutes, Each chef will have to incorporate a secret ingredient, which will be revealed just before the clock starts ticking. During the event, Charbay Artisan Distillery will be on-site serving a delicious signature cocktail, available for purchase.

Tahoe Long Table Harvest Dinner, Saturday, 6-9 p.m., $155 per person

Prepared by Executive Chef Mark Jeffers, the Tahoe Long Table Harvest Dinner will feature a family-style dinner presentation of a special harvest menu that incorporates the freshest, locally-sourced, sustainable ingredients.

This farm-to-table dinner with wine pairings will seat guests together at a long table on the outdoor Manzanita Terrace.

Champagne Brunch, Sunday, Sept. 9, 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., $79 Adults, $29 Children (ages 3 to 12)

Enjoy a seasonally-focused brunch menu at Manzanita, featuring a chilled seafood display, a carving station, salads, cheese and charcuterie, along with breakfast favorites and desserts. Unlimited Champagne and Bloody Mary Bar included.

Grand Tasting & Culinary Competition, Sunday, 1-4:30 p.m., $75 per person advance/$95 day-of event

The Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe pool area is a relaxing place to hang out any time of day.

Held at The Village at Northstar and The Overlook, the tasting features premium wines, spirits and brews in a battle to present the best marriage, which includes participation from The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe culinary team. Judged by a panel of food and wine industry experts, pairings are available for ticketholders to enjoy.
