Northstar ski resort opening Nov. 20

October 27, 2020 By Jeffrey Weidel

Northstar California ski resort has tentatively set its opening date for November 20.

Due to the coronavirus, skiing and riding this year at Northstar California will be restricted.

Northstar’s scheduled opening day for the 2020-21 ski season is less than a month away. The resort, along with two other Vail Resorts in Tahoe – Kirkwood, Heavenly – began snowmaking operations Sunday (Oct. 25).

Northstar Epic pass holders will receive priority access to the reservation system, beginning Nov. 6, as well as exclusive early season access from opening day through Dec. 7. The resort, located off Highway 267 in Truckee, won’t sell lift tickets until Dec. 8.

Vail Resorts’ two other Tahoe properties had previously announced their openings. Tentative opening dates are Nov. 20 for Heavenly and Dec. 4 for Kirkwood.

“We are excited to welcome back winter and are committed to doing everything we can to help keep you safe this season so you can focus on having a great time on the mountain,” said Vail Resorts CEO, Rob Katz.

It’s not too late to take advantage of pass holder perks that include – early access to the reservation system starting Nov. 6, exclusive early season access to ski and snowboarding opening day through Dec. 7; 20% off food, lodging, lessons, rentals, and more

Like all ski resorts nationwide, Northstar, Heavenly and Kirkwood have implemented changes with safety in mind for skiers and riders due to the coronavirus.

COMMITMENT TO SAFETY: Face coverings will be required to access any of the three mountains. The Tahoe ski resorts have re-imagined the resort experience to allow for physical distancing.

PASS HOLDER RESERVATIONS: For safety purposes, the resorts are managing on-mountain access this season. Reservations will be required, and pass holders will get priority access.

LIFT TICKETS: Daily lift tickets go on sale Dec. 8 after pass holders reserve their priority days. Lift tickets will not be sold for the early season, but Epic Day passes are available now.

CASHLESS TRANSACTIONS: All transactions across Vail Resorts in Tahoe this season will be cashless (unless required by local regulations). This includes hotels, restaurants, Ski & Ride School, activities, and all other points of sale. Credit cards are debit cards will be the payment options.

For the best experience, book online in advance via the resort websites.
