Mt. Rose ski resort holding job fairs

September 30, 2017 By Jeffrey Weidel

Mt. Rose ski resort is holding various Job Fairs in October as it looks to hire employees for the 2017-18 ski season.

For people who love to ski or snowboard, a job at a ski resort can be a cool thing, because it typically comes with a complimentary ski pass, which is the case at Mt. Rose.

Mt. Rose ski resort near Lake Tahoe is planning for another early opening with the winter 2017-18 season scheduled to begin Friday, October 27.

Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe is now accepting applications for all positions for the 2017-18 winter season. Applicants are encouraged to apply online at www.skirose.com. Wages begin at $11.50 per hour for all positions, representing a 39 percent increase over the standard $8.25 an hour mandated minimum wage in Nevada. The Nevada resort near North Lake Tahoe is seeking energetic, enthusiastic candidates interested in providing resort guests with an incredible experience every time they visit Mt. Rose.

In addition, the ski resort will host a job fair from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17 at Atlantis Casino Resort Spa in Reno. Mt. Rose will also participate in the Truckee Meadows Community College Job Fair on October 18, and the Sierra Nevada College Job Fair on October 19.

Part and full-time seasonal positions include lift attendants, ski and snowboard instructors, rental shop attendants, food and beverage, bartenders, cocktail servers, janitorial, parking attendants, and ticket agents. Mt. Rose is also looking for Team Falcons coaches, ski patrollers, as well as operators experienced at snow grooming and snow removal. Not all positions require candidates to ski or snowboard.

“We are looking for candidates who thrive in a team environment, and who have strong customer service skills,” said Mike Pierce, director of marketing for Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe. “By offering competitive wages and other employment perks, we are confident we can attract and retain top talent across a variety of positions who will help our guests create lifelong memories with family and friends every time they visit Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe.”

The resort is now accepting online applications for part-time and full-time seasonal positions, including weekend and holiday work. Applicants must be age 16+ to work at Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe. Candidates planning to attend one of the hiring fairs are encouraged to complete an application online in advance, as well as bring a copy of their resume to the event they attend.

Mt Rose received a record amount of snow in the 2016-17 season when storms were punishing, often times burying the resort in snow.

Competitive wages are just one of the many perks offered to Mt. Rose employees. A job at the mountain also includes a complimentary season pass, free lessons and equipment rentals, discounts on retail items and at resort food outlets. These benefits add to the appeal of this local favorite resort, with frequent parties and employee functions highlighting the team spirit that brings returning staff back to Mt. Rose year-after-year. In addition, the resort’s close proximity to Reno provides for a variety of convenient, nearby affordable housing options.

Following last season’s six-month winter season, Mt. Rose is planning for another early opening with the winter 2017-18 season scheduled to begin Friday, October 27, weather and conditions permitting.
