Meet Olympic gold medal skier David Wise Saturday at Northstar California

March 14, 2014 By Jeffrey Weidel

A chance to meet an Olympic gold medal skier arrives Saturday at Northstar California when David Wise returns to his roots.

Northstar California Resort in Lake Tahoe will welcome the Olympic champion and his family back to his home mountain with a full day of festivities that are open to the public, including both skiers and non-skiers.David WIse profile shot

In celebration of Wise’s gold medal in men’s halfpipe skiing, his dedication to family and being a huge supporter of the Boys & Girls Club, the Wise family and The Village at Northstar will host kids from the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Nevada and North Lake Tahoe chapters for lunch.

The lunch will be followed by activities for adults and kids alike, both on and off the slopes. There will also be a chance to ski with David Wise.

Visit The Village at Northstar for Olympic/USA-themed events happening all day from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The activities include skating, free face painting, balloon twisting, a group ski and photo with Wise at 2 p.m., live music all afternoon in The Village, and an autograph signing at 4 p.m.

Attendees can capture the Olympic spirit by posing for photos with their own flameless torches, gold medals and cutout signs.

“It’s been an amazing run (this year) and I’m happy to be home,” said Wise, who lives in Reno with his wife and young daughter. “I’ll be hanging out at Northstar, slapping high fives and signing autographs. Northstar is welcoming me home with a bang!”

Saturday Schedule

  • Noon-1 pm: David Wise lunch with Boys & Girls Club in Conference Rooms
  • 1:30-2 pm: Top of the Comstock lift for group photo with David Wise
  • 2:15 pm: Take a run with David Wise after group photo
  • 4-5 pm: David Wise autograph signing in Village Center
