Fresh snow in Lake Tahoe prompts Sierra-at-Tahoe ski resort to open Friday (Dec. 6)

December 5, 2013 By Jeffrey Weidel

Thanks to snow earlier in the week and the promise of more on the way this weekend, Sierra-at-Tahoe is the latest Lake Tahoe ski resort to open.

Sierra skier, huge jump off rocks

Sierra-at-Tahoe is scheduled to open Friday (Dec. 6). It will offer early-season conditions and very limited terrain.

Sierra-at-Tahoe will run the Easy Rider Express chairlift, accessing the skiers and snowboarders right half of Broadway trail. This is a green run and will have small to medium rail features, giving guests a chance to get their park legs back underneath them.

More snow this weekend?

Forecasts show possible snow showers throughout the weekend and into next week, potentially allowing Sierra-at-Tahoe to open more trails conditions pending.

“Winter has yet to kick into high gear, and with limited snowmaking we rely on Mother Nature.  We definitely have early season conditions on the mountain,” said John Rice, General Manager. “But we know our skiers and riders are hungry to get those first couple of runs in and take a few laps through the Broadway terrain park. As we get more snow, more terrain will open.”

Lift tickets just $40

This is a great time for passholders to come pick up their season passes or daily ticket buyers to test their abilities for only $40 a day for adults or young adults and $20 for kids.

Limited operations on opening day at Sierra-at-Tahoe will include children’s ski school lessons, limited adult ski school operations, ice cold refreshing beer and food in The Pub and Mama’s Kitchen, available gear in the rental shops, and great holiday shopping at Sierra Mt. Sports.

Sierra-at-Tahoe guests are asked to be aware and obey all base area signage as the new base area plaza remains under construction. Pathways will guide guests from the parking lots to the snow.

About Sierra-at-Tahoe
