Plenty of February activities at Diamond Peak ski resort

Diamond Peak Ski Resort in Lake Tahoe has lined up a variety of events for skiers and snowboarders to enjoy in February.

Open to intermediate and advanced skiers and riders, the Backcountry Experience Series is designed to provide a safe and welcoming introduction to backcountry skiing and boarding.

Below are the upcoming events at Diamond Peak:

Community Snowshoe Hikes, February 12 & March 6: The 1.5 mile (3 miles round trip) hike hikes to Diamond Peak’s Snowflake Lodge includes guides, exclusive after-hour access to Diamond Peak and Snowflake Lodge, s‘mores and hot cocoa. Food and beverages are also available for purchase at Snowflake Lodge. Child Ski Center Theme Days, February 13-21: The Diamond Peak Child Ski Center is getting silly with themed days for the holiday week. Themes include Star Wars, Hawaiian, pirates and more. Backcountry Experience Series, February 20 & March 5: Diamond Peak, Tahoe Mountain Sports, Tahoe Mountain School and Dynafit present the 2016 Backcountry Experience Series.

Open to intermediate and advanced skiers and riders, the Backcountry Experience Series is designed to provide a safe and welcoming introduction to backcountry skiing and boarding. These fully guided backcountry tours explore terrain in Diamond Peak’s Golden Eagle Bowl in a small group setting.

The $149 tour package includes lift access, backcountry ski package provided by Dynafit, avalanche rescue gear provided by Ortovox, and professional guiding services. Register online at TahoeMountainSchool.com. http://www.diamondpeak.com/events/details/backcountry-series

Diamond Peak ski resort is offering upcoming theme days for children that  include Star Wars, Hawaiian, pirates and more.

Face/Off Friday Rail Jam Series, February 26 & March 25: Kick off the weekend with Face/Off Friday rail jams on Friday afternoons. Throw down your best tricks or just join in on the fun at Face/Off Fridays with giveaways, drink specials, and more. There is a $10 entry fee for competitors; pre-register on DiamondPeak.com. Spectators can watch the competition from the Loft Bar deck lounge. http://www.diamondpeak.com/events/details/face-off-fridays

Go Green Ski Day & Environmental Expo, February 27: Waste Not and other local sustainability clubs will be joining forces and putting on Green Ski Day. Join in for games, educational activities, art displays and more. Pick up a Go Green punch card at the ticket windows or at the Green Expo on the Base Lodge deck to participate, earn prizes, and be entered into the raffle drawing. Remember to wear green for sustainability and bring your refillable water bottles.

Stick around for live music after the event. Local band, Jacked Up, is playing on the Loft Bar deck 2-5pm. http://www.diamondpeak.com/events/details/go-green

55-plus Ski Clinics, Wednesdays through March 30: Diamond Peak is offering a special ski clinic series for Adults 55-plus as part of the Incline Village Recreation Center Senior Programs.

Diamond Peak’s PSIA Certified Instructors provide beginner, intermediate, and advanced level instruction in these weekly ski clinics for ages 55-plus. Instruction is designed to help skiers return to the sport, improve, adjust, or modify techniques and encourage lifelong skiing. Learn how to use new equipment and meet other skiers.
