Chelsea Handler seeks Guinness record at Palisades Tahoe

March 3, 2025 By Jeffrey Weidel

It might be difficult to find comedian and longtime late-night talk show host Chelsea Handler on TV these days, but she will be very visible for one day this month at Palisades Tahoe ski resort.

Comedian, longtime late-night talk show host and activist Chelsea Handler goes for a Guinness World Record at Palisades Tahoe.

Handler has a goal of setting the Guinness World Record for the “Largest Swimsuit Ski Run” on March 14 at Palisades Tahoe. Handler and event sponsor Gold Bond are inviting anyone interested to partake in what should be a high-energy affair that combines skiing and riding participation, a DJ set, and swag.

Handler will continue the annual tradition of celebrating her birthday by skiing. She’s a bit late this year – her birthday was Feb. 25.

The current Guinness World Record was set on April 9, 2016 at Rosa Khutor Ski Resort in Sochi, Russia. There were 1,008 skiers and snowboarders doing a run in their swimsuits. Of course, depending on the weather, the unknown is can Chandler gather enough skiers and riders to break the record.

Chelsea Handler will lead participants as they ski or snowboard down the slopes in swimsuits, highlighting the importance of skin hydration in cold weather, putting winter skin to the test. The event is open to the public and participants must register at www.GoldBondBaseLayer.com to participate.

CHELSEA HANDLER UPDATE: She has left her job as host of the Netflix show Chelsea – at least temporarily – to focus on activism. In particular, she is working to elect more women and people of color and taking on the often controversial presidential actions of Donald Trump.

Since an October announcement that she was leaving her show, Handler has partnered with Emily’s List, which works to elect pro-choice Democratic women to office. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Chandler wanted to engage with “people I don’t talk with enough – people of different ethnicities, religions and political philosophies.”

The current Guinness World Record Chelsea Handler hopes to break at Palisades Tahoe took place at Rosa Khutor Ski Resort in Sochi, Russia, with 1,008 skiers and snowboarders doing a run in their swimsuits.

Handler believes her tweets about Trump were indistinguishable from those of many other liberal voices in this country.

One Chandler tweet received considerable attention – “Is there anyone dumber than @realDonaldTrump – besides his children and Melania? Does anyone know anyone dumber? Maybe tila tequila” she tweeted in October.
